About Open Art School

Welcome to Open Art School
  • Do you go to art school and want to know how other schools teach the same discipline?
  • Are you majoring in one artistic discipline but want to try another?
  • Do you not go to art school, but wish you did?
  • Do you love your art school education and want to share it with others?
Our intention is to make art education just a little bit more open by giving art students and teachers a place to post university-quality lesson plans that will serve the community at large. You can't get a whole art school education on the internet, but you can see the skeleton of one and build your own at home, if art school is not a viable option.

Art Students - Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is as follows:
Go to school. Pay attention. Then at the end of the semester take an hour or so to type out your favorite classes' syllabi so that others can follow in your footsteps. Send it to us, and your reward is instant access to a library full of lesson plans from all artistic disciplines provided by people like you.

Disciplines covered include: drawing, painting, illustration, printmaking, filmmaking, animation, graphic design, dance, music, theater, creative writing, art education itself and anything else one can think of.

Submitting a lesson plan is free and easy. Just type up your lesson plan in a word/text document, copy and paste it into an email, and send it to ThomasBoguszewski@gmail.com then one of our editors will turn it into an entry.

A free internet forum for Open Art School is located at http://openartschool.myfreeforum.org/index.php and it will provide students like you with a chance to submit lesson plans, while a system for actually TRYING THE LESSONS AND SUBMITTING THEM FOR CRITIQUE BY PEERS is coming soon.

Stay tuned, because this is going to be fun.
